It isn’t the wins or losses that defines a scholar athlete’s experience. It isn’t the championships, or even the great plays. It’s being a part of something greater than yourself. It’s sacrificing short-term pleasures for long-term goals. It’s the discovery of the never-ending quest to realize your true potential. And it’s taking what you’ve learned from the classroom and the field, and bringing it back to your community.
Buick is proud to support collegiate athletics, and now they want you to help them celebrate the amazing human achievement that is inseparable from NCAA athletics.
Note: This competition has a $5,000 Early Entry Prize. Early Entry period ends March 30, 2011. See below for details
Each film should include 2 essential parts:
Part I - An experience, either on, or off the field, which occurred during NCAA scholar/athlete period. This experience, or collection of experiences, shaped the scholar/athlete, making a lasting positive impression on the individual.
Part II – As a result of that experience, an action was taken. Either while in college, or after, the individual made something happen that positively impacted their community, or another individual.
A former NCAA athlete must be interviewed for your films. The NCAA athlete can come from any sport.
If you would like some help finding a former NCAA athlete, please go to the Buick Human Highlight Reel Forum Thread. Make a post that you’re looking for help connecting with an athlete – and give us your geographic location. We’ll see about helping to get you connected.
If you’d rather begin your search yourself, here are some ideas of where to begin:
All music, images, video footage and other content must be either originally produced by the Zooppa member submitting the video, or proper permissions must be authorized by the copyright owner. Proper permissions must include the right for the Zooppa member to use the content commercially. Likewise, it is the responsibility of the filmmaker to ensure that all permissions are in place for use of actors' (including athletes) likenesses.
The Early Entry Award is $5,000, and the winning video is still eligible to win any of the final prizes - So it's possible that one filmmaker could win as much as $13,000 in this competition!
The Early Entry Award, and all of the other awards in the Buick Human Highlight Reel competition will be selected by a jury of advertising experts.
End your videos with the Buick Human Highlight Reel closing animation. Simply append your videos, in the editing process, with the animation file that will be provided in the Materials Files. The closing animation is 6 seconds long, so in order to fit under the maximum total length of 60 seconds for this competition, the body of your mini-documentary can be at most 54 seconds long.
